Australian operations

The pioneer of natural gas in Australia.

Leading the development of LNG

After discovering large gas fields in the Carnarvon basin as young explorer, we established Australia's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant. For more than 35 years, our operations have been characterised by strong safety and environmental performance in remote and challenging locations. The historic North West Shelf Project was the first LNG plant in Australia and continues to be a significant producer to this day. In 2012, we expanded our operations with a second LNG facility, Pluto LNG. Our oil producing assets include the Okha FPSO and Ngujima-Yin FPSO. We have a participating interest in Wheatstone, which started production in 2017.
